A. $41,250

To set the problem up, let R = rugs and F = furniture, and remember that 10% is the same as 0.10 and 15% is the same as 0.15:

(0.10 x R) + (0.15 x F) = 6000

Since you're told that she's sold $12,500 worth of furniture (F), the expression becomes:

(0.10 x R) + (0.15 x 12500) = 6000
(0.10 x R) + 1875 = 6000
(0.10 x R) = 6000 - 1875
(0.10 x R) = 4125
R = 4125 / 0.10
R = 41250

So, she'd have to sell $41,250 worth of rugs to meet her goal.

Hope this helps!

Good luck
