the chemical formula of the compound that is made up of strontium and oxide ions is : SrO2
This compund has a very similar structure to Calcium Carbide and both are white solids

Strontium has two valence electrons to donate while Oxygen requires two electrons to complete its octet. Therefore, one strontium atom will bind with one Oxygen atom. The formula will be SrO
