SUPER EASY! =)

Maria is applying for a summer job. Six employees doing the same work earn $8.00, $8.50, $9.00, $9.50, $10.00, and $23.50 per hour. In the interview, the boss tells Maria that the median of the hourly wages is $9.25. Is the boss’s statement misleading? Why or why not?

B.Yes; it seems to ignore the 23.50 amount

Explanation:

Median is the most middle value of the set of observation.

Since here we have 6 values, So two values will lie in the middle. i.e. $9.00 and $9.50.

The average of these two values are
(9.00+9.5)/(2) = 9.25

Thus, Median of the given set of observation is 9.25 per hour.

Hence, boss statement is not misleading and 9.25 is the correct median. Option D is correct.
