Answer:

p = 295 / 63 = 4 43/63

Explanation:

7 1/9 = (7 x 9 + 1) / 9 = 64/9

2 3/7 = (2 x 7 + 3) / 7 = 17/7

Make the denominator of both fractions 63:

64/9 x 7/7 = 448/63

17/7 x 9/9 =153/63

So now we can rewrite the equation:

448/63 = 153/63 + p

p = 448/63 - 153/63

p = (448 - 153) / 63 = 295 / 63 = 4 43/63
