We have two numbers:

x and 8

And we have this equation:

3 (1/3x + 8) = 11

Solving the parenthesis, we have:

3 * 1/3x + 3 * 8 = 11

3/3x + 24 = 11

x + 24 = 11

Subtracting 24 at both sides:

x + 24 - 24 = 11 - 24

x = -13

Let's prove it on the equation we wrote:

3 (1/3 * - 13 + 8) = 11

3 (-13/3 + 8) = 11

Solving the parenthesis:

- 39/3 + 24 = 11

-13 + 24 = 11

11 = 11

The solution is correct, x = -13.
