To solve this problem without multiplying the 23 you would have to distribute the 23 to get the answer.

This strategy is also called the distributive property.

You can break the 23 into 8 and 15.
After you did that you have to multiply 8 with 45 and 15 with 45 and then add them together.

If you're not sure about what I'm saying, your work should show this.........

23 x 45 ....... 23= 8+15....... (8x45)+(15x45)

Once you answer the expression you should get 1035
