C. The equation has many solutions
Hence x + 2 = x + 4, it could go on past x + 4 = x + 6.

I think it is A. The equation has no solution. If you plugged 2 as x you would have 4=6, which is not true. If you replaced 0 into x, you would get 2=4, which is also not true.
