find the solution to the system of equations.

LEts eliminate x by multiplying second equation by -3


3x + y = 4


-3x +6y = -9 (add both equations)


7y=-5

Divide by 7 on both sides


y=-(5)/(7)

Now we sovle for x, use second equation


x - 2y = 3

Plug in y value


x - 2(-(5)/(7)) = 3


x +(10)/(7) = 3

Subtract 10/7 on both sides


x=3-(10)/(7), take LCD 7


x=(11)/(7)
