Given:

4x+y=1

Find: Slope and y-intercept.

Sol:

The general equation of a line is:

y=mx+c

Where,

\begin{gathered} m=\text{ Slope} \\ \\ c=\text{ Y-intercept} \end{gathered}

Equation convert in a general form:

\begin{gathered} 4x+y=1 \\ \\ y=-4x+1 \end{gathered}

Compare with the general equation:

\begin{gathered} y=mx+c \\ \\ y=-4x+1 \end{gathered}

So,

\begin{gathered} \text{ Slope }(m)=-4 \\ \\ \text{ Y-intercept }(c)=1 \end{gathered}

Graph of function is:

The equation of a line is given below.4x + y = 1Find the slope and the y-intercept-example-1
