Many of the historic writers in early american history were priests, monks, scholars on the adventures with Spanish explorers. The quest for freedom to worship was the reason the pilgrims came to America. After that, many religious groups came here searching for that same freedom, such as the Quakers, who settled predominantly in Pennsylvania.
