Is 7, 849 a reasonable answer for 49 x 49? Why or why not?

No because when your are going to start to multiply, 9 x 9 = 81. So the last digit of 7,849 can't be 9. It has to be a 1 to make it reasonable in the beginning.

Answer:

This answer is not reasonable.

Explanation:

If we do mental math, and calculate 49 x 49 we can see that the last digits to be multiplied are both 9. And 9 x 9 = 81

So, there must be a 1 at the ones place in the final answer.

But here it is given that 49 x 49 = 7849 that is totally wrong.

Moreover the tens place numbers are both 4 so 4 x 4 = 16 and the number at the starting can be near 16 and not 78.

So, this is not reasonable at all.
