The value of x is -1

Remember that a linear equation is:

y = mx+b

Using the first 3 values

we can get the linear equation

y\text{ = -1.5 x + 5}

Substituting the value x = 4

\begin{gathered} y\text{ = -1.5 (4) + 5} \\ y\text{ = -6+5} \\ y\text{ = -1} \end{gathered}

When we try to fit it in an exponential equation

y=ab^x

We cannot fit an exponential equation with the first 3 sets of x and y values.
