add 3 to 37 to get 40 and then subtract 3 from 33 to get 30. add 40 and 30 so you get 70 and you don't have to worry about adding or subtracting the other 3's you added & took away since they canceled each other out!

The answer would be 70 and mental math is to break it down to smaller easier pieces
