Answer:

Quotient = 29 and remainder =14

Explanation:

We need to find
(478)/(16) using partial quotients.

In partial quotients we subtract the easy multiple of the divisor from dividend (e.g. 100x, 10x, 5x, 2x). Then Record the partial quotient in a column to the right of the problem.

16 | 478

| -320 (subtract 16×20)

----------------------------------

| 158

| -144 (subtract 16×9)

------------------------------------

14

14 is less than 16 so now we can stop. So, the value of remainder is 14.

The value of quotient is

Quotient = 20 + 9 = 29

Therefore, the quotient is 29 and remainder is 14.

in partial quotients, it need several steps before it can find the quotient.

Example :
16 | 478 |
- 320 | 20
158 |
-144 | 9
12

Since 12 is less than 16, it now became a remainder

so the answer is 29 R 12

hope this helps
