well if I had 45x45 I would had have 2025 here is a differences between them if I multiplied by a decimal I would had have this 45x0.45=20.25

two whole numbers will end up like this: 8x8=64,but multiplying a whole and a decimal will end up like this 8x8.1=64.1
or 8x8=8 to the second power.
this should be sufficient information.
