The Homestead Act of 1862 granted all people, freed slaves, immigrants, women, etc. 160 acres of land in the western US, namely Oklahoma. If you were 21 years old and agreed to live on and improve the land you were granted, the federal the government would file you for a deed to own the land.

Answer:

It gave the African Americans a chance to own their own land

Step-by-step explanation:

The Homestead Act was a federal law created by President Abraham Lincoln on May 20, 1862. In order to attract immigrants, the US federal government enacted the Homestead Act in 1862, which defined ownership of a 160-hectare estate who cultivated it for five years.
