y - the height of trees after they have been planted;
x - the height of the trees in the pot;
y = x - 12
It a tree is 64 inches tall in the pot:
y = 64 - 12 = 52
The height of a tree is 52 inches.

the complete question in the attached figure

Let

y ----------> the height of trees after they have been planted in inches

x ----------> the height of the trees in the pot in inches

A--------> the point (30,18)

B--------> the point (36,24)

Step 1

Find the slope m AB

m=((y2-y1))/((x2-x1))

m=((24-18))/((36-30))

m=1

Step 2

with m=1 and the point A find the equation of the line

y-y1=m*(x-x1)\\ y-18=(1)*(x-30)\\ y=x-30+18\\ y=x-12

Step 3

For
x=64 in

Find the value of y

y=64-12\\ y=52 in

therefore

the answer is

the height of a tree is
52 in
