Evolution is the change in allele frequencies, a measure of the relative frequency of an allele on a genetic locus in a population, within the gene pool of a population. Adaption is used to describe a newly mutated trait that increases fitness in a particular environment.

Adaptations are the process by which evolution occurs, an adaptation is a modification a species made in order to give it a competitive advantage in it's environment. Evolution is the change in inherited genes and/or morphology in a population over time.
