When doing a close reading, what is involved in the process of annotating a text?

creating a graphic organizer to understand certain parts of the text
identifying the writer's purpose and personal history used in the text
analyzing in great detail the figures of speech used in the text

When annotating the text you should highlight the words that you do not know or that you do not understand fully. Mark the text with questions that you have about what the author is conveying.

The answer is D: highlighting and making notes about specific parts of the text.

The objective with close reading is to be able to assimilate new information from a text and have a deep understanding of it. This requires multiple readings, a thorough examinationof the text, with focus on the information provided. It is a crytical analysis of the text focused on significant details, it should be done with a pencil, noticing things that are confusing.
