One day, a person went to a horse racing area. Instead of counting the number of humans an horses, he conuted 74 heads and 196 legs. How many humans and horses were there?

A. 37 humans and 98 horses
B. 24 horses and 50 humans
C. 31 horses and 74 humans
D. 24 humans and 50 horse

We know that there are 74 head, so we can just have 24 horses and 50 humans or 50 horses and 24 humans. Because 50+24=74


A is false, because 37+98≠74 and C too, because 31+74≠74.


So, it can be B or D.


If it's B, we have 24 horses and 50 humans. We have at all 196 legs.


And 24*4+50*2=196.


So it's, B, we have 24 horses and 50 humans.



(for D we have 24*2+50*4=248 or 248≠196)

The answer is B.
Well, it is not A or C since all together, it has to be 74 and A and C have more than 74 heads. Now your left with B and D. Lets look at D for a minute. Humans has 2 legs (we all know that) so 24 times 2 equals 48. and horses have 4 legs. 50 times 4 equals 200. 200 plus 48 is 248, so D is Incorrect. The answer is B
