When the Bantu started to migrate from their initial homeland in western Central Africa, they started to move in the territories in the eastern part of the continent, as well as spreading out over a wider area in Central Africa. As the time was passing, they started to move in southwards as well, and became the dominant group of people in the eastern half of South Africa as well. In time, the Bantu managed to become the biggest group on the African continent, both by numbers, and by area they live in.

One of the groups moved towards East Africa while another group followed the Congo River system.
