Your friend just challenged you to a race. You know in order to beat him, you must run 15 meters within 20 seconds in a northern direction. What does your average velocity need to be to win the race

Average Velocity = Distance/Time

So!

15m/20s

Reduce the fraction by 5 to yield the following result:

3m/4s

Or if you want it as a decimal...:
0.75m/s

Answer: Average velocity of him is 0.75 m/sec to win the race.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Distance he ran to beat him = 15 meters

Time he takes in a northern direction = 20 seconds

We need to find the average velocity need to be to win the race .

As we know that the velocity is the speed of particular object in a given direction.

So, the formula for average velocity is given by

Velocity=(Distance)/(time)\\\\Velocity=(15)/(20)=0.75\ m/sec

Hence, average velocity of him is 0.75 m/sec to win the race.
