4(x+10)=-3x-12

To find the solution:

1. Remove parenthesis:

As:

a(b+c)=ab+ac
4x+40=-3x-12

2. Add 3x in both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} 4x+3x+40=-3x+3x-12 \\ \\ 7x+40=-12 \end{gathered}

3. Substract 40 in both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} 7x+40-40=-12-40 \\ 7x=-52 \end{gathered}

4. Divide both sides of the equation by 7:

\begin{gathered} (7x)/(7)=-(52)/(7) \\ \\ x=-(52)/(7)\approx-7.42 \end{gathered}Then, the solution for the given equation is -52/7 or approximately -7.42
