The Middle Colonies comprised four of the Thirteen Colonies located in the center of the possessions of the British Empire in North America. They were the colonies of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The Middle Colonies had a rich soil, which allowed the area to export wheat and other beans. The shipbuilding and naval industries prospered due to the forestry abundance, and Pennsylvania had some successes in the textile and metallurgical industry.
