Sancho picked 1/2 of a pound of strawberries. This afternoon, Sancho's sister ate 1/3 of the strawberries. How many pounds of strawberries did Sancho's sister eat? Please simplify and write the answer as a proper fraction.

Since they do not have the same denominator you multiply them to make it the same. You change 1/2 to 3/6 and 1/3 to 2/6. You then add those to get 5/6. Sanchos sister ate 5/6 pounds of strawberries.
