Add all of the costs up and don't forget to multiply the .99 cent item by 3. This equals $17.62. Then multiply this by 1.055. This will add the 5.5% sales tax to your total and come up with $18.59

Answer:

The total cost Sue paid is $18.59.

Explanation:

Sue bought plastic plates for $3.65, cups for $4.25.

Three boxes of plastic tableware for $0.99 each means total cost for three boxes =
0.99*3=2.97 dollars

A plastic tablecloth for $6.75.

Total cost of all items =
3.65+4.25+2.97+6.75=17.62 dollars

Now on this amount 5.5% sales tax is also paid.

Total amount now becomes:

17.62+(0.055*17.62)=18.59

Hence, the total cost Sue paid is $18.59.
