consecutive even are 2 apart
they aer x and x+2

smaller is x
smaller added to 4 times larger adds to 58

x+4(x+2)=58
x+4x+8=58
5x+8=58
minus 8 both sides
5x=50
divide by 5
x=10

x+2=12

the numbers are 10 and 12
