The total number of students is 9. In choosing the first and second student, it means that the order matters. We would use the permuttation formula which is expressed as

P = n!/(n - r)!

Where

P represents the number of permuttations

n is the total number of objects in the set

r is the number of objects to be chosen from n

From the information given

n = 9

r = 2

P = 9!/(9 - 2)! = 9!/7!

P = 9 * 8 * 7!/7!

P = 72

The number of ways is 72from n

From the information given

n = 9

from n

From the information given

n = 9
