Two trains leave the same station at the same time, but are headed in opposite directions. One train travels at 70 mph and the other train travels at 80 mph.

How much times passes until the trains are 600 mi apart?

It depends on where each train its heading is both trains destination is 600 miles apart from each other then, Train A is going 70mph so divide 600 by 70 to get 8.57 round it up to get 8.58 then multiply by 70 to get 600.4 round down to get 600. Train B is going 80mph so divide 600 by 80 to get 7.5 then multiply by 80 to get 600. The trains should be 600 mi apart by 1 hour and 14 minutes.

Answer:

After 4 hours the trains will be 600 miles part.

Explanation:

Two trains leave the same station at the same time, but are headed in opposite directions. One train travels at 70 mph and the other train travels at 80 mph.

Velocity of train 1 = 70 mph

Velocity of train 2 = 80 mph

Since the velocities are in opposite direction

Relative velocity = 70 + 80 = 150 mph

We need to find when the trains will be 600 miles apart.

We have

Distance = Time x Velocity

600 = Time x 150

Time = 4 hours

After 4 hours the trains will be 600 miles part.
