Half a foot is 6 inches and a foot 12 inches
5ft and 6in times 2 =11 ft
20ft is the length of the tree shadow so half would be 10 ft

Answer:

Tree is 10 feet high

Explanation:

In the figure attached, AB is the tree having length x feet and casting the image 20 feet long.

Joe is ED casting as shadow of 11 feet.

Triangles ABC and EDC are similar so their corresponding sides will be in the same ratio.

(AB)/(ED)=(BC)/(DC)

(x)/(20)=(5.5)/(11)

By cross multiplication

11x = 20 × 5.5

11x = 110

x = 10 feet

Therefore, tree is 10 feet high.
