The area of rectangle(A) is given by:


A=lw ..... [1]

where, l is the length of the rectangle and w is the width of the rectangle respectively.

As per the statement:

A rectangle has a base of 2 yd and a height of 5 ft.

⇒w = 2 yd and l = 5 ft

Use conversion:

1 yard = 3 ft

then;

in 2 yard = 6 feet

⇒w = 6 feet

Substitute the given values in [1] we have;


A = 5 * 6= 30 ft^2

Therefore, the area of rectangle is, 30 square ft.
