This problem is basically all subtraction. So if Victor starts with $60.00 but spends $12.89 and another $39.99 he'll have $7.12 left.
60 -12.89 = 47.11
47.11 - 39.99 = 7.12 ; thus $7.12 is your answer

$60.00 - $12.89 = $47.11 - $39.99 = $7.12 so victor has $7.12 left
