1) Butane, gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel are all components of crude oil which can separated from one another through fractional distillation. These are hydrocarbons which differ in their chain length and as a result boil at different temperatures.

Lower the chain length, lower will be the boiling point. The chain length from the lowest to the highest follows the order shown below;

butane < gasoline < kerosene < diesel

Hence, the butane gas will have the lowest boiling point

2) Draining cooked pasta in a colander essentially separated the solid pasta from liquid water. This process is termed as filtration.
