Lee's 5th grade class has 1.4 times as many students as fred's if there are a total of 60 students, how many students does Fred's class have?

25 students in fred's class

x = # of students in fred's class
60 = total students

60 = x + 1.4x
60 = 2.4x
/2.4 /2.4
25 = x

25(1.4) = 35
25 + 35 = 60
