Length =x
width=x-8
Perimeter of a rectangle=2(length) + 2(width)
We can suggest this equation:
2x+2(x-8)=52
2x+2x-16=52
4x=52+16
4x=68
x=68/4
x=17
length=x=17
width=x-8=17-8=9
Answer: the width of this rectangle is :
9 cm
