centimetres to metres is 1: 100 meaning there are 100 centimetres in 1 metre
1 cm = 0.01m (the decimal point moves 2 spaces to the left)
metres to kilometres is 1: 1000 meaning there are 1000 metres in 1 kilometre
1 m = 0.001m (the decimal point moves 3 spaces to the left)
so, centimetres to kilometres would be 1cm = 0.00001km (the decimal point moves 5 sources to the left)

Answer : 5 places and the decimal moves to the left side when we are converting the number from centimeters to kilometers.

Explanation :

That means, when the power of 10 is negative then the decimal moves to the left side.

The conversion used from centimeter to kilometer is:

1 centimeter = 0.00001 kilometer

Or, we can written as:

1 centimeter =
10^(-5) kilometer

From this we conclude that, when the power of 10 is negative then the decimal moves to the left side.

For example : 5 cm = 0.00005 km

Hence, 5 places and the decimal moves to the left side when we are converting the number from centimeters to kilometers.
