Answer:

Total of 39 beads are required to fill this necklace of 13 inch length.

Explanation:

Maggie is making a necklace using 13 inch string and identical beads.

Length of necklace = 13 inch

The 15 beads fill 5 inches of the string

Total beads used for filling 5 inches = 15

\texttt{Number of beads required to fill 1 inch = }(15)/(5)=3

Number of beads required to fill 13 inch string = 13 x 3 = 39

Total of 39 beads are required to fill this necklace of 13 inch length.

I think you would go like this: If 15 covers 5 inches then I know I am going to need at least 30 but I have 3 more spaces so I have to divide 5/15 (That is 15 divided by 5) The answer is 3 so I have to go 3 x 3 which is 9 and then I add
9 to 30 which is 39 so there is my answer. If I did it incorrect please tell me. :). I hope it helps.
