Answer:there were 80 more tickets sold for balcony seats than for orchestra seats

Explanation:

Step 1

Let number of tIcket for balcony be represented as x

and

Number of tickets for orchestra seat be represented as y such that the total number pf tickets sol;d would be

X+ Y = 300--- equation 1

And the cost for $4.00 for a balcony seat and $7.50 for an orchestra seat totalling ticket sales of $1,585 be represented as

4x + 7.50y = 1585----- equation 2

Step 2

X+ Y = 300--- equation 1

4x + 7.50y = 1585----- equation 2

Multiplying equation 1 by 4 and subtracting from equation2

4x + 7.50y = 1585

-4x+4y= 1200

3.50y =385

y =385/3.50

y=110

To find x, when y=110

X+ Y = 300--- equation 1

x+110=300

x= 300-110= 190 tickets

balcony seats tickets = 190

orchestra seats tickets = 110

Therefore, there were 80 more tickets sold for balcony seats than for orchestra seats
