Triangle PQR has vertices P(–2, 6), Q(–8, 4), and R(1, –2). It is translated according to the rule (x, y) → (x – 2, y – 16).

How I learned it was since the X values for the 3 triangles are "-2,-8, and 1", they will simply just subtract 2 from them because it says in the rule "x-2". For the Y values you will simply just subtract 16 from all of them. You may also get questions involving translating it across a line.
