The effect that sectionalism did have on the Era of Good Feelings is it made national unity more difficult. The Era of Good Feelings  was a period that started and promoted on national unity. The Congress adopted this economic program that includes having a national bank and a protective tariff. Sectionalism on the other hand, is only loyalty to the interests of a particular region and not entirely the nation.
