To solve the system we equate the y variables of both equations and solve for x:

\begin{gathered} 3x+1=2x+6 \\ 3x-2x=6-1 \\ x=5 \end{gathered}

Now that we have the value of x we plug it in the first equation to get y:

y=3(5)+1=15+1=16

Therefore the solution is x=5 and y=16. It can also be written as (5,16)
