Amylose consists of linear chain of glucose molecule linked through ∝-1,4 glycosidic bonds whereas amylopectin also contains branched chain structure with ∝1,6 glycosidic bonds and ∝-1,4 glycosidic bonds (linear). Starch is present in plants.

Glycogen is a polysaccharides contains large number of glucose molecules. The structure of glycogen and amylopectin is quite similar. Glycogen contains both ∝-1,4 (linear) and ∝1,6 (branched chain) glycosidic linkages. Glycogen is present in animals.
