1. Identify the given

• The volume o ethyl lcohol = 573mL

,

• The density of the ethyl alcohol is 0.789 g/mL.

2. Calculate the volume of ethyl alcohol in litres - convert mL to Litres :

(a) We know that :

1 L = 1000mL

x L = 573mL ....( do a cross multiply)

xL = (573mL* 1L )/1000mL

=0.573L

Therefore the volume of ethyl alcohol = 0.573L

(b) The mass of the ethyl alcohol in grams.

we will use this formula to calculate the mass :

Density is the ratio of mass and volume.

Density= mass/ volume

∴ Mass = density x volume

= 0.789 g/mL x 573 mL

=452.097 grams

~ 452.1 grams

• Therefore mass of the ethyl alcohol = 452.1 grams
