3+ 1/4X=2
Subtract 3 from both sides to cancel out the 3
1/4x=-1
Divide both sides by 1/4 so that the only thing remaining on the left side is the variable x.
Final Answer: x= -4

3 + 1/4x = 2.....subtract 3 from both sides
1/4x = 2 - 3
1/4x = -1...multiply both sides by 4, eliminating the 4 on the left side
x = -1 * 4
x = -4
