The atomic mass of an element whose atoms consist of eight protons, nine neutrons, and eight electrons is _____. (Ignore the periodic table entry for this element and only consider what the atomic mass would be given the number of subatomic particles in this question).

I believe it would be 17. This is calculated by adding up the number of protons and neutrons together in this case

8 protons + 9 neutrons = 17 subatomic particles altogether in nucleus of atom.

The atomic mass of an element is the sum of its protons and neutrons. If the element has 8 protons and 9 neutrons, then its atomic mass is 8+9 which is equal to 17. The correct answer is 17.
