The possible reason why flowering plants and shrubs are unable to grow in deciduous temperate rain forests is that, these places have cold temperatures. Flowering plants and shrubs usually grow in warm temperatures. In cold places or during winter times, these plants experience rest periods or chilling hours. These plants cannot increase its ability to withstand cold and can be injured during cold temperatures.
