Write a function rule for the volume of the cylinder shown at the right with a height 3 in more than 4 times the radius of the cylinder's base. What is the volume of the cylinder when it has a radius of 2 in?

Volume of a cylinder = π r² h

radius = 2 inches
height = 3 inches more than 4 times the radius. 4(2) + 3 = 8 + 3 = 11 inches

Volume of a cylinder = 3.14 * (2in)² * 11 inches
Volume of a cylinder = 3.14 * 4in² * 11 inches
Volume of a cylinder = 138.16 in³

The volume of a cylinder is equal to


V=\pi r^(2) h

where

r is the radius of the base

h is the height of the cylinder

In this problem


h=3+4r

For
r=2\ in

Find the value of h


h=3+4*2


h=11\ in

Find the volume of the cylinder


V=\pi*2^(2)*11


V=44*\pi\ in^(3)= 138.2\ in^(3)

therefore

the answer is

The volume of a cylinder is equal to
138.2\ in^(3)
