The answer is sink holes.

The collapse are commonly known as sinkholes that can occur naturally or due to human activities.

More commonly the collapse occurs in urban areas because of the breaks or sewer collapse, when older piper gives away.

They can also occur by the over pumping and extraction of groundwater and the sub surface fluids.
