The quotient of a number and -9 increased by 10 is 11.

Translate the sentence into an equation. then find the number that is described in the sentence.

Your equation would look like this . . .

n/-9 + 10 = 11

*solve by subtracting 10 from both sides, and then multiplying both sides by -9

n = (11 + 10)*-9 = -9

n = -9

so the division of a number and -9 or
x/-9

+10=11 or

(x/-9)+10=11
subtract 10 from both sides
x/-9=1
multiply both sides by -9
x=-9
