Mr. Robinson gets $5.99 off which is $24.00
Mr. Chang gets $2.50 off which is $22.50

Work:
29.99x.20=5.99 29.99-5.99 = 24.00
25.00x.10=2.50 25.00-2.50 = 22.50

Answer:

Mr. Chang received the better discount

Explanation:

Mrs. Robinson bought a novel at a bookstore on sale for 20% off its regular price of $29.99

The price of the novel at a bookstore = 29.99 -(20% × 29.99)

= 29.99 - (0.20 × 29.99)

= 29.99 - 5.998

= $23.99

Mr. Chang bought the same novel at a different bookstore for 10% off its regular price of $25.

The price of the novel at a different bookstore = 25 - (10% × 25)

= 25 - (0.10 × 25)

= 25 - 2.5

= $22.50

Mr. Chang bought the novel at the price of $22.50 and Mrs. Robinson bought the same novel at the price of $23.99.

Therefore, Mr. Chang received the better discount.
